Approach
How a venture partnership runs: who does what, in what order, and what is agreed before anything is built.
Who does what
- The founderBrings domain expertise and leads the business.Knows the customer, commits to the work, takes part in validation, and plans for the cash portion and ongoing operations.
- SerrasIts own services team delivers the product work with the Serras Suite.
For selected startups, Serras reduces development fees in exchange for negotiated equity participation. Idea-stage and existing startups can be considered; selection and terms are individual.
Five steps
The partnership is agreed at the third step, before anything is built. The fifth runs only where agreed.
- 01
Find the fit
We learn about you, the customer problem, the market, what already exists and what you want the business to become.
- 02
Shape the venture
Together we research the opportunity, validate assumptions, define the product and agree priorities.
- 03
Agree to partner
Scope, cash fees, equity participation, milestones, responsibilities, ownership arrangements and ongoing support are set down once, for this venture. Nothing here is standard, and nothing is built before it is agreed.
- 04
Build and bring it to market
Product and brand decisions are carried through design, engineering, verification and launch, with your review at meaningful points.
Shape, build, check, release, improve.
- 05
Learn and improve (where agreed)
Customer feedback and product evidence guide later work under the agreed engagement.
How the work stays connected
The Serras Suite keeps product context, decisions, work and checks connected from the first shape to each release. You can follow progress, the decisions that matter are yours to make, and released work is there to review.
The Serras Suite includes Symphony, Studio and Podium.
- Shape
- Build
- CheckAgainst what you approved.
- ReleaseReleased work, there to review.
- ImproveWhere agreed.
Improvement returns to the next shape only where the partnership agrees it.
Fit
Fit signals are guidance, not requirements. Meeting them does not guarantee a place.
Common questions
Does Serras invest cash?
No. Serras does not invest cash. For selected startups, Serras reduces development fees in exchange for negotiated equity participation. You fund the remaining cash portion and the ongoing operations of the business.
Is there a standard equity percentage or fee?
No. There is no standard equity percentage, cash-investment commitment or fixed delivery time. Fees, equity, scope, milestones and responsibilities are agreed per venture, in conversation, before anything is built.
Who owns the code and the IP?
Agreed in each partnership. Ownership arrangements are set down in that venture's agreement. There is no universal policy to publish.
What happens after launch?
Agreed in each partnership. Where the partnership agrees it, customer feedback and product evidence guide later work under the agreed engagement. Budgets, pitch materials and documentation can extend an engagement where relevant; they are not part of every partnership.
Does Serras help raise money or take a board seat?
Agreed in each partnership. Serras publishes no standard answer on fundraising support or board arrangements. Both belong to the individual agreement.
If I match the fit signals, do I have a place?
No. Partnerships are selected individually.
Can I come with only an idea?
Yes. Idea-stage and existing startups can be considered; selection and terms are individual.
What do I bring as the founder?
Your field, your leadership and the cash portion. You bring the domain expertise and the customer understanding, lead the business, and fund the agreed cash portion and ongoing operations.
How will I follow the work?
You review at meaningful points. Released work is there to review, and the decisions that matter are yours to make.
What if I want a conventional paid build, or to run the Serras Suite myself?
Not here, and that is fine. For a conventional paid build, see Services on serras.ai. To run the Serras Suite yourself, see Platform on serras.ai.
How do I start?
Send a short introduction. You will receive a reply asking for more information.
